What is Buddhist Meditation?

Buddhist meditation is used to calm the body and the mind, ulitmately in order to investigate your inner process, gaining insight into the deeep discontent we feel. This discontentment the Buddha said was due to our tendency to push away unpleasant experiences and grab onto pleasant experiences.

This swinging between these two extremes of pushing away and grasping is what leads to our fundemental discontent because this can never actually achieve.

Instead through meditation we can really see what is happening in ourselves, we can embrace this discontent and work with the causes, and through this meditation process the discontent will eventually begin to diminish. Regular meditation practice can result in a feeling of contentment, happiness, better relationships with others and increased self confidence.

Anantacitta practices secular buddhism.

Secular Buddhism is concerned with the practice of Siddhattha Gotama’s four noble truths in this world. It encourages a naturalistic and pragmatic approach to the teaching, seeking to provide a framework for personal and social development within the cultural context of our time.
