What is Hypno-psychotherapy?

This is a form of psychotherapy that uses hypnosis as an aid.

Put simply, it helps you to become aware of what is happening to you, inside you and between you and others.

The wide-ranging methods used in hypno-psychotherapy are powerful and often speedy in effect because they are attuned to the qualities and characteristics of the individual involved. You will find yourself feeling clearer, more hopeful, more decisive, more energetic and this will help your symptoms clear up.

Hypnosis itself was first used by the Chinese, Greeks, Egyptians and Romans to help cure illness and improve quality of life, and it is still used all over the world today. It is a state of deep relaxation combined with a state of heightened awareness induced by suggestion.

Hypnotic states occur naturally in everyday life in the form of daydreaming, vivid remembering or anticipating the future. Therefore, hypnosis is a natural way of accessing inner strengths and resources, changing unwanted habits and understanding problems.

Suggestion therapy is used to produce a change in behaviour pattern in conditions such as travel sickness, nail biting or smoking, requiring only one or two sessions. Analytical therapy is used to discover underlying causes of presenting symptoms and is highly effective for problems such as panic attacks or eating disorders, especially when combined with psychological and behavioural homework.

Conditions that may be helped include:
Anxiety & panic attacks Smoking & addiction
Weight control (Anorexia/Bulimia Nervosa) Asthma
Emotional problems Phobias & allergies
Pain control Migraine
Breaking unwanted habits (bed-wetting, stuttering) Insomnia
Skins conditions (Eczema, Psoriasis) High blood pressure
Travel sickness Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Improving memory, performance and self-confidence Depression
