What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy is a science-based complementary therapy which aims to maximise one’s health potential through personalised nutritional and lifestyle changes. Nutritional therapy takes a holistic approach, focusing on finding the root cause of health concerns, rather than merely treating the symptoms.

It considers digestion, hormonal and blood sugar balance, hydration, detoxification and nutritional status of the person to be at the core of optimal health, and uses nutrition to address imbalances and to promote wellness. Health is not merely the absence of disease but a state of complete harmony between body, mind and spirit.

The main tool in nutritional therapy is the use of wholesome, unprocessed, foods that promote healing and proper functioning of cells and organs, as well as the therapeutic effects of particular nutrients for specific ailments. By using a person-centered and systemic approach, all aspects of health are considered including medical history, health concerns, environmental exposure, lifestyle and dietary intake. With this, a nutritional therapist aims to identify the person’s unique needs, supporting them in taking charge of their own health.
